What a new install actually involves
New construction drywall isn’t one step — it’s a sequence, and skipping or rushing any stage is what causes cracking, visible seams, or nail pops down the line. We hang sheets first, staggering seams so joints don’t line up across a wall. Then we tape every seam, apply two to three coats of joint compound over several days to allow proper drying, and finish with sanding and texture matching to the rest of the home.
Basements, additions, and full remodels
Basement finishing has its own considerations — moisture-resistant board near any potential dampness, and careful attention to where drywall meets concrete. Additions need to tie seamlessly into existing walls and ceilings, matching both texture and, often, an older home’s slightly uneven framing. Full remodels are usually the most straightforward from a drywall standpoint, since we’re often working with fresh framing throughout.
Timeline and what to expect
A single room typically takes about a week start to finish, factoring in drying time between coats — trying to compress this timeline is one of the most common reasons a new install ends up with visible seams a few months later. For larger additions or full-floor remodels, we’ll walk you through a realistic schedule during the initial estimate so it can be planned around the rest of your project.

Do you work directly with general contractors?
Yes — a good portion of our new construction work comes through GCs and remodelers. We’re comfortable coordinating around other trades and working from blueprints or framing plans.
What thickness of drywall do you use?
Standard interior walls typically use 1/2 inch board, while ceilings and garages often call for 5/8 inch for fire rating and sag resistance. We’ll spec the right thickness for each area during the estimate.
How much does new installation cost?
Pricing depends heavily on square footage, ceiling height, and complexity (corners, angles, high ceilings all add labor). We provide a written quote after a walkthrough or from your project plans — no charge for the estimate.
